Super Mario Run, a name that makes you wonder... Mobile Mario, something wonderful for those without a 3DS or a plague on the Mario universe? Before this, Mario has been exclusive to the Nintendo platforms, but has officially made his debut on the smartphone.
From the wonderful Mario Bros. of the NES to the NEW Super Mario Bros. 3DS and beyond, Mario has amused families and gamers for over 20 years with his classic look and Valiant efforts to save the princess, the kingdom and the universe.
In Super Mario Run you play Mario, and then later unlocked characters, in a quest to save Princess Peach from Bowser after she invites you to the castle for cake. Nintendo Recycles old enemies and the very basic story to hook you into an easily repeatable game. Granted it feels overplayed, but definitely good for a short break.
In terms of ads and in app purchases, they forgo the ads for the option to buy the game flat out. Of course you only get one world to play unless you buy it, which makes the game a lot less free, but the free content is fun.
10 bucks nabs you the whole package and makes Nintendo a lot happier... Because 10 bucks for a heavily reused game concept feels a little unfair, but the game is fun none the less.
Overall, Super Mario Run Grades at a 75 out of 100.
Not the most innovative or creative game concept, and not the best Mario out there, but definitely a fun game to burn a small bit of time on.
